Sunny Sunday-

Yes, I spent a morning at the life drawing studio on Friday, doing these drawings. Something has to be born
one of these days... all this cooking inside me is just driving me nuts!
These are just drawings but the little wooden boards are waiting patiently for me next to my desk.
And since it was an unexpectedly sunny Sunday, Lucy and I went out looking for sunrays,
 fun at the park ,
and of course something yummy for lunch.
Elli has been back for about a month. Still getting over her culture shock. There is always 'culture shock' when you hop over to another continent no matter how familiar life there has been in the past.
Cultural differences can be subtle but if you are not aware of them they can create a big gap, a sense of frustration and isolation. Do we have 'cultural gaps 'on the internet? It seems like we hop over from one country to another, east and west, north and south, from blog to blog..with great ease...Do we actually hop 'over' all our cultural differencies? Are we creating another culture that is unique to the internet?
That's part of the beauty of it isn't it?
Meanwhile, I will enjoy the last couple of hours of sunshine which is something we all looooove!
And love this!
Hugs-

What a wonderful Sunday you've had :) Loving your little paintings and that you got out and about too. I know exactly how Elli feels - I'm still adjusting to being back in Brisbane and I was only in Europe for two weeks! I think it's because I feel so much more 'at home' over there (even though I was born here)... go figure, hmm?
There does seem to be an international 'language' in blogland - my guess is we're all the same underneath anyway (if you know what I mean) that it transcends international or cultural differences. However, when you meet another blogger in person it's incredible how very different they are to how you'd supposed... I've been surprised ;) Always a nice surprise though, once you get over your preconceptions :))
Take good care, Annamaria! I hope we can meet one day and be happily surprised :)

These new drawings are lovely. It seems you are creating all the time, so despite not being where you want to be, you'll have a fantastic body of work to look back on. I need to do more of this. So many ideas are created in my head where I more or less complete them, nothing making it to paper. Very frustrating, I find your path inspiring.

The internet does create a unique culture – one akin to the good ol days of pen pals, or artist letter exchanges - but more accessible & more public! I guess what happens in the creative blog land in particular, is that cultural differences don’t tend to translate that easily. Blogs are a relatively confined space of considered text and images in a light chit chat format, where it is easier to form a sense of commonality. But I’ve been visiting a lot of non English blogs, where I need to busily copy and paste texts into a translator(!!), and they can definitely feel more isolating – but sometimes more fun! Phoof… that was a rant! xh

i hope lucy finished her soup before eating that scrumptious cupcake:) i am not sure i would have had the willpower! i find that i feel overwhelmed by the worlds that open to me through the internet. there is so much that is good it is like being at a banquet where you cannot possibly taste everything but you want to. one thing stands out for me over and over again: the kindness of those i have encountered. it is very hopeful.

Yes Kylie, I think you are right, we are all the same underneath. Is it our learned body language within a certain culture that makes such a big difference? From my own experience I think there is a lot of that which may explain why when we meet a pen-pal or a blog-pal it seems , well ...strangely unfamiliar! But you know this is why I love this blog-land so much , it is liberating from all such stuff.I very, very much hope we will meet in person one day(we will be preapared now see?)and you take good care to dear Kylie.xxx

Hi Helen,

you are encouraging me because I feel I am never doing enough...I think it works in a chain, we just keep inspiring eachother- which is a good thing!

I have to say I *ADORE* the translator button, eventhough some of the results can be ..totally untranslatable! and hillarious! But still it gives us immediate access to people everywhere.A common language-so awesome!

Thank you for your *rant*.Please, your *rants* are always very welcome, I love them!
Take good care!XX

oh i love that question, it's so interesting. i like the idea of our own culture, where we all understand each other. i think since so many of us are women, coming back to an artist's life after being away because of children or working somewhere boring out of necessity, there is a real empathy there, no matter where we live. such support, that i treasure and no sense of competition, just encouragement and friendship. i think it's a very special place. x
