5,5 x 8 inches acrylics, acrylic inks and house paint on vintage paper

Almost gave up on this. I am not sure about the white house paint. I like the way it feels on the

brush but it kind of deadens the colors I mix it with. Maybe I should mix it with some Zinc white as well.

Maybe it's not about the house paint at all. Maybe the composition is too flat. But I like what is happening in the background. Tomorrow is another day. 10:54pm now. Goodnight.

I am experimenting with mixing my acrylics, gouache and acrylic inks with

white house paint and pink block printing ink. I love the pink hue of the block printing ink but for some 

mysterious reason it does not register with my scanner. What's that about, does anyone know?

I tried to adjust the colors on my screen but it's still too nasty in relation to the real thing. Or at least

I HOPE the real thing is kind of delicious....haha! Anyway, I think the block printing ink will go back to the cupboard, and maybe I will buy some pink house paint instead. The house paint is nice and creamy and kind of thick, it dries really fast which is not too cool but I can work around that.

My mother has amazing patience. She sends us newspaper clips about art,

letters, poems (her own), books (her own), and always photographs. She has been doing this continuously over the last ten years or so, in an effort to bridge this long distance between us. So while looking through an envelope she had recently sent us, I thought that by painting from her photos I would be doing my half to building that bridge. As a painting this is unresolved, it's just a study that I want to paint much larger (but she's there)

It's not about the sunlight, it's about the shapes.

Working on the little ones, and planning new work for an upcoming show(soon more on that!)
Still struggling with achieving fluidity with acrylics. Things move along, sometimes fast, sometimes very s...l...o...w...l...y..., it's all a learning curve. Or so my good friend  L. tells me...(sigh...)

Supermarket tulips-

 In watercolor-5 x 7 inches

In acrylics on canvas- 6 x 8 inches. I am trying to keep all the watercolors at 5 x 7, and all the acrylics at 6 x 8 inches. I think it points to how obsessive I can be... No matter. It works. A girl has to do what a girl has to do!
