My creative space- art on the kitchen table-

The sunshine continues, the glare in my studio continues, so here I am again on the kitchen table, too close to the refrigerator that is the home of these wicked cinnamon rolls that Rea brought back from work. Both our older ones have jobs at coffee shops and they both bring back wicked things- oh what a mother has to endure...- (do you know how they say she got fat after having kids? ) But I am really just joking, I am made of steal when it comes to gooey things, and I only think of art anyway( I just had a tiny bite...)

The whole truth is that I think of the paint and the shapes and I just love going through the motion of wetting my brushes and mixing the gouache, or of making little lines with ink...When I draw a line I wonder where it will go , I see an invisible form become something out of nothing- and then suddenly out of the blue, I have a memory flash, like I am a teenager and I am walking by these very 'in' coffee shops, and I am wondering what it is like to be an adult and be free to do as one wishes...(now where did that come from?) Or I will see my grandfather fix something or other in his workshop at their summer home...I will think of the trees, there, here, the shadows, him making a little wooden swing for me and hang it from a tree, do you know what the leaves of the tree look like as you swing back and forth? When he worked my grandfather was quiet ...

I like to work quietly too lately. I sing to myself 'three is a magic number' that I have picked up from Kylie's blog...

I love the sunshine, I love the quiet, the 'colour' white, trees and sweet grandfathers.

Have fun with all the creative spaces at Kootoyoo!!!

Oh Annamaria! What a gorgeous post! Such a beautiful wander through the creative process as well as the creative space! :)) Beautiful little memory tree - fab colours! Thanks for the mention - I love that 3 song too :)
(I'm just reeling at the moment... Belinda from Gretchenmist just told me that I've been featured on Bloesem!!!! I can't believe it!)
Thanks for another stunning creative space :) K

p.s.(see how strong I am - I don't even mention the cinnamon scrolls... whoops!)

It's a beautiful space. I especially love the little book with notes and sketches in it. I plan to have one of those very soon! And I had to laugh about your singing. I end up singing that too after I visit Kylie!

Your post has made me somewhat melancholy!!! I never knew either of my grandfathers but was lucky enough to 'inherit' two when I married. To know these two wonderful men added something to my life and to know them was to understand the family stories I hear when I am with my husband's family. They are both now gone and I feel the loss even though they weren't 'mine'. Your creative space is wonderful - the colours are great and the cinnamon rolls .... well I wouldn't be able to resist! x

Mmm. As a kid - and even now if I happen to sit on a swing, I always lean as far back as possible so my hair sweeps the ground and I get dizzy with upside down clouds and tree bits...

This post is so beautiful. I love your work and everything you wrote in it. A little inspiration for my morning.

I need some will power like you. We used to live close to that delicious cinnamon roll place on the corner of West 10th and Alma, called Grounds for Coffee and I swear I would hear them calling my name when I would pass by. xo
