Seals and etsy

I spent the whole morning in my pyjamas in front of my pink computer, trying to catch up with all sorts of bits and pieces and doing some work for my shop. It was very inspiring to meet the Etsy admin. representatives- they recounted the history of the company- it basicaly started with a young man who made furniture and was frustrated with trying to sell it on ebay- he thought there must be a better way and there was etsy! It was work shared with friends, roommates etc, a very small seed for something that in four years has become such a big company that has an increasingly expanding global reach! Woohoo for them! I feel so excited to be involved in a company with such a fun, innovative and international character- Can't you just feel that buzzing energy? At the same time it is tons of work as many of you know, and one of the things that was stressed was that the Etsy admin. are very focused on increasing 'speed' and 'security' but also see bringing in 'clients and keeping them' as a very high priority in their list of to dos. Bringing in clients was one of the reasons for the recent connection to facebook and in general they feel they need to explore non-traditonal means of advertising etsy which seems totally appropriate for a company with a very innovative, non- traditional profile. Saying all that , the means are non-traditional but some times I feel that Etsy is like the village square with all the well known to eachother vendors chit-chatting away...
Talking of etsy, here are a couple of two more seal stories ready to go to the store as prints...

I like all the experimentation I 've been doing lately, no, I don't like it, I love it, there just aren't enough hours in the day!!!
Have a good day (actually I am going to bed soon, its been a lovely hot summery day and I think I will dream of seals!)

I love this bold graphic turn you're taking, Annamaria! The fluidity of those shapes is pure yuummm!

I'm going to have to quiz you more about all the "hard work" with having an Etsy store. I guess it's like anything 'what you get out of it depends on what you put into it' but it would be good to know just how much you have to put into it ;)

Happy dreams :) K

Interesting to read about the history of etsy-- I didn't know how it got started. I have a little store, but haven't put much effort in to it and have only had one sale.

I know what you mean about there not being enough hours in the day ... I often feel that way myself. If only I didn't have to sleep, darn it.

your seals are gorgeous!
would love to have sat in on the etsy meetup. so interesting. it is a ton of work, don't u think, but it mostly doesn't seem like work {unless it's too dark to take good shots of your work}. i love how etsy lets us work for ourselves but as part of a bigger community!
