My creative space-

Something has happened and I am finding myself baking every morning before I go into the studio.

Its grounding in a funny way, I relax while I mix ( in this case, my banana bread) and enjoy the way the house smells , while the goodies are baking in the oven. It seems like a perfect way to start the day, and it puts me in the quiet and inward looking mood that is best suited to painting.

Then the studio welcomes me. I have a few small paintings on the go- this is to avoid the panic of having to start something completely new on a white board.

Yes, things have become resolved and now I am reworking about five older paintings. I am even reworking an image that I have had in my mind for the last fifteen years...Finally, it was all about clarifying my intentions. I am not fighting with the paints any longer. While I am holding my brushes (and preferably listening to Chopin, or Bach on the radio), I feel like I did when I was seven and my mom used to hold my hand and take me (by train) to the centre of Athens, shopping for fabrics for her dresses. She doesn't sew herself but she always had her dresses made, or 'altered'! And there I am, holding her hand and looking out at a world of wonders!

And, don't you know, Kootoyoo is hosting many wonderous and buzzing creative spaces. I am off to visit!

Hugs-

This is just the most wonderful post, Annamaria! I love that rhythm you have to your day of baking first - I can totally see how it allows you to settle in and do your painting. I think walking the girls to school does that for me too - it's time taken doing something for the family so you don't feel bad about doing your own thing afterwards maybe? Love the sketch for your fabric shopping piece!! and what a great story :) K

I am with you on the baking putting one in a good place to start each day. I almost always bake or light incense, make a yummy drink, play 40's and 50's jazz, open up all the curtains and blinds to let in a wee bit of light and work away.
I really love the way you describe everything, it is utterly lovely! I am so happy things are flowing for you so beautifully now.

I know what you mean about baking being a great start to the day. I also feel like such an organised good Mum when I have something rising in the corner or in the oven. Love the drawing.

I love your post Annamaria!!
what a good way to start the day, baking! And i feel the same about painting, many times I am just stucked in front of the canvas with too many ideas and no one wants to pop out!!

Beautiful said! The way you write is always so inspiring.
I have started meditating every morning and it has helped so much with the way I face the world and tackle the challenges. I imagine baking is very similar and nurturing on more than one level. : )
