Abating the fears-

Quietly working away. All the preparatory drawing is supposed to help plan out the color, composition etc. For me it also works as a way to get me excited enough with the prospect of making a painting that my fear of failure will abate. I will delay, and find any reason to procrastinate, but if I start casually working away in my sketchbook (pretending it's not a serious thing afterall...lalala...) , nothing will stop me unitl I drop. So I actually trick myself into working...How do you start something?

Hugs-

I like your idea of tricking yourself (lalala) into painting. I find that my worst knots build when I am away from my painting table. Once I get myself unglued from the computer (where I usually procrastinate) and actually sit at my table, things seem less scary. My girls help me. "Mama, go paint!" :)

absolutely love these two photos together, they paint a picture, so to speak! i start by getting something down, usually a scribble on a random piece of paper lying around. everything starts with a bad scribble! x

Such a clever way to do it! I love your sketchbook bather :) I jump right in and start with whatever idea I might have and tweak and layer and change everything until I'm happy with it... but I do like your method of sorting out all the bumps beforehand :) Kx

I procrastinate by tidying up, blogging, eating, texting, emailing... and then I try and catch myself unawares and jump on it! We are strange us artists!! So lovely to find you are back again :)) Thanks for visiting.

I like your trickery technique! I'm not fearful per se, but I'm a bit of a procrastinator. I need all of my materials at my fingertips, set up and ready to use. This way I'll have the best chance of painting.

I often play little tricks too. Beginning with something that isn't too important always helps. Pressure seems to make me freeze.

oh dear dear

I start with a lot of passion and sure I am going to create something amazing and then I don't so I stop :p

You are wonderful artist Annamaria and I would say a wonderful person too ( somehow I feel that )

...I think I might adapt your lalala way on doing things ;)

YOu should´t have any fear of failing- your art is wonderful! Hihi love the way you trick yourself into painting "until you drop".
I recognize myself here- since once I have started I can´t stop but there´s always a time limit, a child has to be picked up or some other things to do, so there´s always something that is on the art´s way...
I always forget the sketchbook and instead fill my head with loads of ideas and images so it feels like my head is going to pop...so I´d better get hold of one of my little sketch books and start to gather all the ideas on paper instead. I have been too disorganized lately and thanks for making me want to change!
Cyber hugs to you.

Beautiful painting!

You asked if I have a good recipe for lasagna. I layer a meat/tomato sauce (with extra vegetables: carrot, onion, celery root) and a store bought cheese/herbs sauce with the pasta.
