Theo the rooster-

Theo the rooster- gouache on watercolor paper- 8 x 8 inches

About ten years ago I painted a series of pink hens. This is my very first rooster and evidently my stylistic  approach has evolved, this guy could not and would not be pink.  After mature thinking I have come to the conclusion that I am much more suited to painting these delightful birds than to raising them. Well, maybe, yes, no, I am not sure (mature thinking around here doesn't last long obviously...) Perhaps, I would be happier living next door to someone who had chicken and allowed me to paint their portraits. I think that would be the perfect arrangement. Do you have longings to be a keeper of hens? Or better yet, do you have chicken in your backyard?

Hugs-

Theo looks very good, that glow on his feathers, one healthy rooster, i like those bold strokes

me too, i love the hens and sheep and sometimes horses in the neighbor's meadows, i love watching them, but i rather have cats that come and go, walk around freely and don't need to be caged or fenced,( i do feed them :)) x

Love this creation of yours ! simple yet beautiful. I am mostly painting birds these days, and I painted a similar rooster on a cushion cover using fabric paints long ago. You can see that image in my post " A room of one's own". Here is the link if you are intetrested:

But you have to scroll down the page a bit to see that image.

I live in a big city, in an apartment, so raising hens is out of question but I love those who are raising hens on their own.
have a great day !
