We had a very Greek-Canadian Thanksgiving.

The menu:

cheese pie,

dolmathes,

roasted potatoes,

smoked salmon,

big Greek salad,

hummus,

apple crumble

and/or

pumpkin pie

with ice-cream.

And I am still stuffed...

but thankful...!

    My great-grandmother lived through a war that devastated and uprooted her young family.
Years later, my mother always remembered her grandma Maritsa's home (in a goverment housing project in Athens) to be cheerful and pretty, because Maritsa made sure it was always
decorated with fresh flowers (daily baking smells probably helped too!)

Looking out my window. There was a bird that came and sat on the

wire as I was painting and I had to quickly include him too.

There is more orange in that yellow. Can't seem to match the photo to the painting today.

But I loved working on it. Loved all the emotional stuff it quietly alludes to...

In the end, there is always a 'twist' somewhere, somehow...
