Day 10- when each and all are kings-

This is another eleven thirty post so I will have to make it short.
Ok. I cheated again! I used three articles for my 'visual thoughts'.
From the New York Times page C23.
About a 'soaring , strollable installation made from 5,000 bamboo poles situated on the rooftop of the Met. It sounds intriguing, complex, for some reason 'democratic', for some reason a little like David (from David and Goliath) building the 'tower of Babel' with the help of his friends , and a little theatrical like the 'cirque de soleil'. Great stuff to ponder on.
On the opposite part of the art world,
is the art of William Scott, of which

on page c26 the reviewr writes:"His simple , almost classical vocabulary, was derived from life's quieter moments. As seen here, they depicted pans and foodstuffs arrayed on the counter, series of cups or bowls seemingly suspended in midair..."

At the same time there is a long article about King Tut and how much more we know about him and how the more we find out about him the younger, more delicate and sickly he seems to have been.

So I was thinking about art, permanence, transience, life's small stuff that stays with us and what is it finally that truly nourishes us? Is it great ambition? Is it the small and close at hand? What is important?
And how lucky are we to be living in an era where as artists we have so many choices, almost too many! And how does democracy relate to art? If there is such a thing as democracy- maybe it changes form and content just like art does in different places and different times.
I am probably too tired to make any sense .. so I will leave you before I totally confuse you...at least the drawing is done and another week is completed!
Hugs-

While you were pondering the complexities of the universe, I was deciding what to paint on pears today and feel very mundane!
So enjoy your blog and your art.

Oh my I just love all your explorations Annamaria! These pieces (previous posts too) are just breathtaking! and I love reading how they've come about :) Sorry I've been such an absent friend! It's about to get worse I'm afraid - I have to start working in my hubby's shop so I'm going to be a midnight blogger too but getting no craft done I'm afraid! I will always pop in here whenever I can though! Kxx
