On a grey Saturday the quest is for colour-

Lucy has her own dress style and I am loving it.
As a child I was allowed blue, brown, white and dark green maybe. The day came when and my mother thought it was safe for me to shop by myself. I returned from the shop with a flame red skirt and a light green ( but very intense) shirt. I was in heaven!!! My mother was considering sending me off to live with another family...Of course I never saw the outfit again...Maybe I became an artist so I could 'legally' play with colour!

Keep colour !!
It occured to me that colour has been used as a 'political' tool and/or statement, and the more democratic our society becomes the more freedom has been given to the use of colour- I would love to read something about that-

I have another link for you. Here.

(and I will tell you something more- the pink is returning-its starting...)

Colourful rain-

Hello colourful rain.
Hello colourful rain.
The morning spent drawing downtown. There is a structure I have to follow there. I don't have to make all the rules. I am involved in the same task alongside other fellow artists and friends. It breaks that isolation of the studio at home. And I always enjoy the drive there and back. It's a time to look out for inspiration...

Then a quick lunch. A real tablecloth. A treat for a coffee shop!
I have been getting very anxious about things. I get hives all the time. Isn't that weird? I know its a state of mind. I try. I know I must seperate what I am in control over with what I am not. I try. Then sometimes I forget. So I try to carry my camera with me all the time. That's soothing.
I look at lovely artwork. That's soothing too.
Here are two artists I just discovered:

Here comes the rain again-

The clouds have gathered again.

So there is no excuse for the work not to keep going.

The house is mess and I guess it will remain so until the beginning of April!

I have to tell you though, I am having terrific fun in the studio.

And Lucy is doing some lovely painting as well. I think she is inspired by her mom's buzzing workspace.

Right now I feel like this, and I am due to go upstairs and read the first chapter of 'The Secret Garden ' to my little girl.

Before I run I have a lovely link for your ears(my daughter Elli introduced me to them)

Controlled panic-

The day in the studio at home.

I am living in a semi-controlled panic attack. The gallery space is huge for the size of my paintings. Will I have enough? I am running as fast as I can-

I can't post any of the work yet- I want to complete this , whatever it is called- a phase?

One of my main issues has been focus and if I post the work it will ruin whatever focus I have right now. So I will take photos for you here. By the way, I am beginning to love my camera and the things it can do for me. How it forces me to discover things.

I was very excited to come across the work of this artist, here

Doing the Olympic walk

We had to do the 'Olympic' thing downtown...Everyone was trying to get a picture of the flame! I think it would be a project in itself to photograph people taking photos.

The city was partying. It has been partying for the whole week. A sea of happy people. Even in line ups. I was talking to a woman(in a line up) and she said she extended her stay here by a week, and will be ever so sad to leave!

There is definitely 'magic' on the streets!

And 'art on trees'...

And as expected, it all ended with a delicious dessert and the best coffee in town (or so I was told).
A little after cheesecake I had the pleasure of listening to some Dylan Thomas reading his poetry courtesy of ii-ne-kore-
That inspired me to suggest that you might (or really you must!) also take a listen to Elizabeth Bartlett's 'Painting of a bedroom with cats.'

Saturday, all work and play.

Saturday morning saw a flurry of cleaning activity!!Then I took a break, sat in the sun and enjoyed 'my (Charles) Burchfield'. Do you love him too? He is growing on me. Every year I love him more. What a unique vision!
Lucy's hearts.

She requested this for Christmas.
Rea has one too. We thank Ikea.

Then our reward was cake at my favourite place.

Carrot and ginger cake for me. I swear it was delisious. At the 'Little Nest'. Of course. And fresh orangejuice.
And have you seen Bibi's latest work?
She inspires me so much!
Wishing you a lovely weekend-

Shine On

Really , shine on sunshine!

I love taking photos from the car. You are forced to look up and see things you don't normally notice.

Then back home all is quiet.

Even Lucy wass quietly reading Asterix.

Painting.

Working with acrylics.

Loving it.

Really loving it.

Even when I want to pull my hair out.

Even when it exhausts me.

Are you interested in the work of Kiki Smith? If you are you can take a look at this you tube video .

Trying to get some painting done.

Sunday's flowers. Some are mine and some are Rea's.

This photo was a response to Kylie's tag on Flickr. Lovely, very clever and very talented Kylie-

I am working away (that's one reason I am taking so many photos of my self- any excuse...)-

Not as quietly as I would like since school is off for two weeks because of the Olympics. I hope you are watching. It's an absolute joy to follow the doings of all these incredible athletes. I salute them!(ALL OF THEM)

This little space is next to the studio. The older children use it alot. The whole thing was arranged by Rea. The artwork is mom's. The rugs were bought many years ago in Skopelos which is the island where the film 'Mama mia' was shot. I lived on that island for six years and had the older girls there as babies. Part of my heart will always be there

Drive to Squamish-

Squamish is a town about an hour from Vancouver. The drive there is stunnning.

The Squamish Art Council- these are
trees covered in crocheted and knitted fabrics. Unfortunately the person in the gallery did not have very much information about them .
She said they were put in place during the night by a certain not very anonymous group(whatever that might mean!) I didn't care- I thought they were fabulous!!

Hugs!
